Look at me now was the first humanities project of the year. The purpose of this project was to introduce our individual identities through a creative outlet. We were asked questions about how we are as social individuals and academics. We were given ten literary devices and had to write a paragraph for each literary device. These paragraphs had to explain moment or moments in our lives that are connected to that literary device. The ten devices were theme, symbolism, irony, antagonist, protagonist, flashback, foreshadowing, conflict, characterization and setting. For example, our prompt for the symbolism paragraph was: what is one item in your room that represents a part of your identity? Why?

One thing in this project that was challenging for me was being able to write about so many different parts of my life. Especially parts that are more personal. My irony paragraph was challenging for me to write because, even though it was a perfect story for irony, I hadn't told anyone about it so I was hesitant to write it. Just finding different memories and different parts of me was difficult because I usually don't write about personal things, not personal, more like "weak points". But, I really wanted to push myself to be more comfortable sharing those weak points in my life.
The easiest part of this project for me was knowing how I was going to present it. In the very beginning of this project I really didn't know what my final product was going to look like, but I really like how it ended up looking. I decided on poster board because I knew I wanted to do represent art in it since art is a big part of my life and I didn't write about it. I also knew I wanted a world map to represent the memories and family that I have from all over the world. This was the easiest to me because after I finished writing my paragraphs this idea came to me very easily.
I felt pretty comfortable during the presentation of this project. Over the years at High Tech I have gotten much more comfortable participating and speaking in front of large groups of people. The one thing I wish I could improve on is rushing. I think since I'm not completely comfortable yet I rush through presentations sometimes. But, I know the only way I can improve is by doing it more often so even though in the moment I might not feel great going up to give a presentation, I know the reward of improvement is worth it.
I did receive feedback on how to improve my project from other students and my family. I think that feedback is always helpful so I know where to improve. I got feedback on my paragraphs during the peer critique session which I found very helpful. This is because when I write something, it might make sense to me but not to others. So when I get critique I know where and how to change my wording so that it makes more sense to my audience.
I provided kind, specific and helpful feedback during the peer critique session. I gave feedback to Henna and Gracie. Both of them received detailed and clear feedback from me. I acknowledged what they did well and told them where they could improve their writing.
I did attend our Barnes & Noble exhibition and was able to watch some students present their projects.
I was on task for the vast majority of the time we were giving in class to work on writing and construction. I was consistently working on my project and was able to finish my project with no stress. I was able to use my time wisely so that I didn't have a bunch of work the day before it was due. I turned everything in on time during this project because I used my class time to finish as much work as I could. As a result, I didn't have a lot of homework for this project.
I believe that I deserve an A for this project. This is because not only did I stay on task, turn everything in on time and use my time wisely, but I also out all my effort into it. I pushed myself throughout this project to keep improving everything so that it was a final product that represented my abilities. I am proud of my final product and feel that it shows that I tried in this project.
If I could change one thing about this project it would be the exhibition. I feel like the exhibition was very casual and wasn't taken seriously by most students. I would have made it a mandatory exhibition so that we all came and everyone was able to show their work. That might just be because those are the exhibitions that I am used to.
