What Courage Means To Me
Courage is the large and small acts people do to overcome fears and obstacles. The obstacles can be anything from sickness, to fears, to the society around them. Malala Yousafzai is someone who has performed a large act of courage to overcome an obstacle. She stood up against the Taliban because she wanted to go to school. The Taliban didn’t want girls to go to school and didn’t like that Malala was standing up against them, so they found Malala’s school bus and shot her in the head. Malala stood up against a force so much bigger and stronger than her so that she could get her education. Because she stood up for what’s right and continued to stand up for what she believes in even after she got shot, she sparked a worldwide conversation about children’s education. Her act of courage has been heard around the world and has inspired others to stand up for their rights.
A student is an example of someone who performs small acts of courage everyday by overcoming their fears and obstacles. They can do anything from standing up to a bully to raising their hand and speaking in front of their class. These are small acts of courage because most people won’t even notice them, but they are still just as important as the large acts. Courage is overcoming your fears and obstacles no matter what it takes.
