One of the main topics of learning in the second half of this semester was circuits. We learned about circuits in physics, starting of with the basics and then going in more depth. I learned about the four basic components of circuits, a battery, a light, and two wires.
This diagram represents an open circuit. An open circuit is a circuit that is not fully completed or closed. That means that the electricity does not have an entire circle to flow through.
This diagram represents a closed circuit. A closed circuit is a circuit that is fully completed and the electricity has a full circle to flow through. This is the only type of circuit where you can get you light to work.
This diagram represents a short cicuit. A short circuit is a circuit where the wire is connecting one side of the battery to the other, with no source for th electricity to go to. This type of cicuit is slightly dangerous and can cause a fire or sparks.
